Several years teaching voice in both private and group settings.
Alexia holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Vocal Performance from Carnegie Mellon University and is currently pursuing a Master of Music Degree in Vocal Studies from the Mannes School of Music.
Soprano Alexia M., a native of Long Island, New York, has been trained in classical voice since she was eight years old and classical violin since she was three years old working with world renowned artists. Her most recent performances include Amy in Little Women with the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival coached by the composer himself, Mark Adamo, and Cunegonde in selections from Candide with Carnegie Mellon University Opera. She was commissioned this past May to premiere the role of Idealized Martha in Trapped in a Mind with a Friend of Mine, a newly composed opera by Andrew Dewey. Other operatic role experience includes ensemble member and Adele (cover) in Die Fledermaus, Jenny Slade in Roman Fever, and Queen of the Night in Die Zauberflöte at Carnegie Mellon. She has also performed as a soloist with the Carnegie Mellon University choir and the CMU Singers chamber group.
This past December Alexia was the soprano soloist in the Fauré Requiem with the Carnegie Mellon University choir. In addition, she has attended the Redwoods Opera Workshop, the Savannah Voice Experience Festival, and the International Vocal Arts Institute where she performed the role of Le Converse in Suor Angelica and was a soloist on several concert programs. In 2015, she was also featured as the soprano soloist in Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with the Clinton Symphony Orchestra under the baton of maestro Charles Schneider. This past year she received the Derdeyn Award in Voice from Carnegie Mellon University.
Alexia also has years of experience performing in plays and musical theater. Her most notable roles include Mrs. Bennet in Pride and Prejudice, Ariel in The Tempest, Lucinda in Into the Woods, Tessie Tura in Gypsy, and Elle Woods in Legally Blonde.
Trained in bel canto technique, music theory, ear training, eurhythmics, acting, alexander technique, vocal pedagogy, French, Italian, German, and Greek, she is passionate about inspiring others to cultivate their love for the arts.
