Alyssa has six years of experience teaching violin to students ranging from elementary through college age in New York City and Northern Virginia. Alyssa is dedicated to fostering a supportive lesson environment, helping students build a solid technical foundation, and equipping them with practice strategies to support their growth as musicians. Just as she finds joy in sharing music, she strives to inspire that same passion in her students.
Bio
Alyssa K. is a professional violinist based in New York City. Her work has taken her all over the globe, from playing her own solo arrangement of the National Anthem for the New York Mets at Citi Field, to touring Northern Italy with the Oxford University Orchestra, to sitting as Concertmaster for nearly ten musical theater productions both in the U.S. and internationally.
Alyssa has played violin for over 14 years and graduated magna cum laude from Columbia University with a B.A. in Music and Computer Science, studying under Grammy Award-winning violinist Richard Rood and jazz violinist Victor Lin. Alyssa is also a founder and violinist of the Crown Quartet, performing for audiences of 30,000+ at Columbia University’s 2023 and 2025 Commencement Ceremonies, as well as the Inauguration of the University’s 20th President.
Alyssa is a winner of several competitions and awards, such as the James C. MacDonald Performing Arts Scholarship, the U.S. Army Orchestra Young Artist Competition, the Young Musicians Inspiring Change International Competition, and the Great Composers International Competition. She was accepted into many distinguished summer programs such as the Boston Tanglewood Institute, the Summer Music Institute with the NSO, the Cleveland Institute of Music Violin Intensive, and the Philadelphia International Music Festival.
With over 4 million views and 10,000 followers on TikTok, Alyssa loves to share her string arrangements and covers online while experimenting with diverse musical styles, including pop, jazz, classical, and folk. Her videos have been recognized by acclaimed artists like Laufey, Tori Kelly, and JVKE.
