Experience
I have been playing the flute for almost 20 years, and teaching it for over 8 years. With experience working with a variety of ages (from older adults to young kids) and levels in private lesson settings, my teaching philosophy remains the same: to spread a contagious love for music and to help everyone find a way that playing an instrument benefits them throughout their lives, whether professionally or for pure enjoyment. While I received a strict and traditional European flute education, I enjoy a mix of attention to technique and details along with a more musical and holistic approach. I believe that playing the flute should be a physically pleasant experience, and work closely with my students to unlock ease while learning about the asymmetrical position required to hold the instrument. I strive to inspire my students to find their own sound on the flute, one that feels natural, beautiful and expressive to them. There is so much that we get to learn about ourselves on the path to master a craft, and the flute is no different. I take pride and joy in leading my students to strive for excellence in a supportive teaching environment, catered to each individual’s needs.
