Andrea has been teaching the flute to students of all ages since 2009.
Andrea is currently a DMA candidate in Flute Performance at the CUNY Graduate Center. She completed her MM at the Manhattan School of Music and her BM at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music.
Growing up in Melbourne, Australia, Andrea was immersed in many kinds of music, from baroque to Irish folk; from wind bands to improvisation. Since then, her experiences performing and studying across Australia, Europe, Canada and the USA have reinforced her diverse musical interests and her commitment to sharing her love of music through performing and teaching.
Andrea is a keen advocate of new music and has worked with composers and premiered works in Melbourne and New York. She has performed in major venues such as Carnegie Hall, National Sawdust, Wigmore Hall (London) and the Melbourne Recital Center. She has extensive experience teaching private flute students, from beginner to advanced, in addition to tutoring school ensembles.
With funding assistance from the Australia Counsel for the Arts and the Ian Potter Cultural Trust, Andrew completed her masters in contemporary performance at the Manhattan School of Music, studying with Tara Helen O’Connor. Andrea has studied with renowned flutists and pedagogues in Australia, Europe and the USA including Mardi McSullea (Melbourne) Camille Hoitenga (Cologne), Petri Alanko (Helsinki), Felix Renggli (Basel) and Carol Wincenc (NYC).
