  • Having worked with hundreds of students through private and group instruction over the last ten years, Ben has taught students in a wide variety of ages, skill levels, stylistic preferences, and disciplines. His teaching style is based on tailoring the curriculum to the needs and current abilities of each individual student. In order to make the learning process as enjoyable and accessible as possible, Ben makes a concerted effort to inspire his students by teaching instrument fundamentals, technique, and music theory concepts through the use of material that stylistically resonates with each student’s personality and musical preferences.


Ben W. is an electric and acoustic guitarist currently based in New York, NY. Born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, Ben began taking piano lessons at the age of 6 during his formative years. A few years later, he began taking guitar lessons from Motown studio musician and songwriter Charles Smith, at which point he decided to make a career in music his long-term goal. In 2013 he attended Berklee College of Music, where he  received a BA in Contemporary Writing & Production. His study there entailed honing skills as a composer and an arranger for a variety of ensembles, all while gaining invaluable experience performing for numerous recording sessions and live shows.

Since graduating college, Ben has traveled nationally working as a guitarist and pianist for live events and recording sessions. He has also worked as a private music instructor for piano and guitar.

Ben performs throughout NYC as a guitarist for private and corporate events, most recently playing guitar on the off-broadway show ‘Kinky Boots’. As a composer, Ben has been regularly writing music for independent films and commercial advertising, composing music in a wide variety of genres and instrumentations. He recently released his debut EP ‘The Great Indoors’, which is now available digitally everywhere.
