Caitlin is a professional singer whose career has taken her all over the country. She has sung leading roles with Opera Memphis, Nashville Opera, Florida Grand Opera, Tacoma Opera and many others. She has also performed leading roles in musicals including Kiss Me Kate, Guys and Dolls and played guitar, uke, percussion and piano in The Irish and How They Got That Way. Caitlin also is the band leader of the Opera Cowgirls, a band that synthesizes classical music with country and rock ’n’ roll. She also performes with the all-girl Irish music ensemble, the Galway Girls.
Caitlin started singing before she can even remember… It has been her primary love and passion since childhood! After starting off studying drums and percussion in junior high, she gravitated towards guitar, taught by her father who loved blues music, so that she could accompany herself singing. In high school she began voice lessons and was introduced to Brahms, Handel and Mozart, which all kind of felt like another sort of rock ’n’ roll. Caitlin attended Northwestern University where she participated in the prestigious Musical Theater program. Since graduating, Caitlin has performed professionally as an opera singer and also in musical theater.
Because of Caitlin’s extremely varied background, she LOVES teaching students in all kinds of styles. She has studied belting technique extensively, so she believes that it can be done well without strain to the voice. Caitlin applies her classical technique to all styles, enabling her students to maximize their range and vocal flexibility in whatever genre they love. Students have gone on to perform leads in regional theater, been accepted into Laguardia Performing Arts High School and even overcome fears of singing karaoke in front of their business colleagues in Japan!
When not singing, Caitlin loves to paint and draw, take acting classes and write. She is publishing a book for young classical singers just graduating college to help them maneuver the beginnings of a career and manifesting their artistic goals.
