Bio
Carson Y. is a Brooklyn-based pianist and educator in the greater NYC area. In addition to his newly released record, “Feeling it Now,” he holds a Master’s degree from the City College of New York where he studied with Bruce Barth, Ray Gallon, Steve Wilson, and Mike Holober. He also has a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee where he studied with former Jazz Messenger Donald Brown. During college, he spent two summers as one of the house pianists at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, Michigan where he played solo, trio, and dance band styles. After moving to New York in 2019, he has recorded one EP and one LP, and is currently working on a trio album as well as performing around town and teaching. Carson is sure to impress listeners with his unique originals and attention to the jazz tradition featuring a heavy blues emphasis and bebop presence.
