Chris has many years of experience teaching students of all ages. He teaches piano, saxophones, flutes, clarinets, and composition. The styles he teaches include classical, jazz, rock, and contemporary.

Bio

Christopher P. is a New York-based pianist, saxophonist, woodwind doubler, composer, and arranger. Originally from Asheville, North Carolina, Chris began his musical journey at the age of 6 with a toy electric piano. Since then, he has expanded his musical palette to encompass various styles and instruments. Growing up, Chris studied classical piano and played saxophone in the band. During his time at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Chris studied saxophone, piano, and composition, with a focus on Jazz studies. He has performed in numerous pit orchestras, playing flute, piccolo, clarinet, bass clarinet, and saxophones, and has played keyboards in funk, jazz, salsa, and soul bands.

Notable achievements include arranging and performing with Reliably Bad, a popular NC-based R&B group, and The Four Tops. He has arranged for jazz artists such as Alexa Tarantino, Camille Thurman, Becca Stevens, Roxy Coss, and Charlie Hunter. His work is also featured in Jazz at Lincoln Center’s young bands library, The MSM Salsa Big Band, the Piedmont Triad Jazz Orchestra, and many more.

Chris currently performs, teaches, and composes in New York.
