Connor E. is a jazz guitarist currently living in New York City where he plays and teaches regularly. Connor specializes in jazz and composition, but he has experience and studied in many styles including Blues, Funk/RnB, Rock, and Classical guitar. Connor studied privately with world renowned jazz and blues guitarist Dave Stryker during his time at IU. He also received a Downbeat award for Outstanding Student Composition for a piece he wrote for IU’s flagship ensemble, the Plummer Ensemble, directed by Walter Smith III. Connor moved to NYC after graduating to pursue a career as a jazz performer and educator, but his long term dream is to become a faculty member at a prestigious university. He has always had a passion for education, and he has experience teaching players of every level and all ages. He plans to pursue a graduate degree after spending some time working as a freelance artist in the city. Connor has had the opportunity to share the stage with many icons in the jazz community including Walter Smith III, John Raymond, Randy Brecker, Marquis Hill, and more.
