Bio

Elana is a mezzo-soprano based in Brooklyn. As an operatic soloist, she has appeared with esteemed music institutions around the country such as American Modern Opera Company, Sarasota Opera, Tanglewood Music Center, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, and Des Moines Metro Opera. Notable roles include Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro), L’enfant (L’enfant et les sortilèges), Cendrillon (Cendrillon), and Der Komponist (Ariadne auf Naxos). She is also a frequent performer in choral and concert settings, and has a particular affinity for new and contemporary classical music.

Elana was a finalist in the 2025 McCammon Competition and semifinalist in the 2024 Joy in Singing Competition. She was named the Eastern Region winner of the NATS Artist Awards in 2023. She is a recipient of the Yale School of Music Alumni Prize, as well as the Margot Bos Stambler Professional Development Award and the Pi Kappa Lambda Musicianship Award from Oberlin Conservatory.

Her teaching experience is extensive, having taught students as young as five years old, middle- and high- schoolers auditioning for school plays and performing arts schools, advanced undergraduates preparing for juries, and adult amateurs. Through all of these experiences, she has gained knowledge of how to tailor her teaching approach to different ages and skill levels, as well as how to cater to each individual student’s learning style and goals. She aims to meet every student where they are and to provide them with the knowledge and confidence to perform at their very best.

When Elana isn’t singing or teaching, she loves birding, cooking, and doing all sorts of arts and crafts projects.
