Eliza is the daughter of a diplomat and grew up in Malaysia, Japan, Hungary, Long Island, and Brazil. Wherever she went she always joined the local choir/drama club to find community. It’s really true that music is a universal language! She experienced firsthand the value of arts programs which has very much informed her teaching practice.

In high school, Eliza was selected to be part of an international choir through AMIS, which held intensive choir workshops and performances in Luxembourg, Abu Dhabi, and Berlin. This built a strong foundation in music theory, sight signing, and classical style voice. Her training continued at the University of Miami where she earned her BFA in Musical Theatre. There she learned technique for musical theater, jazz, and contemporary style singing. Additionally, she was taught how to interpret music off the page and how to make it come alive. Eliza incorporates these key skills in her lessons.

Upon graduating, Eliza worked with Charleston Stage as a resident actor and teaching artist for 2 years. There she performed in shows at night while teaching musical theater workshops in summer camps, public schools, and after school programs for kids grades K-12. Through this, Eliza developed an ability to quickly assess student’s knowledge and create a plan to help them grow! She fosters a fun, inviting, and enjoyable learning environment. Eliza believes that learning musical skills goes beyond music itself. It teaches essential life skills such as listening, self-discipline, focus, setting and achieving goals. Also as she learned from doing music around the globe, it is a connective tissue that fosters creativity and communication. Eliza is passionate about bringing her knowledge of music to students of all ages and all levels!
