Geoffroy has been teaching piano for 6 years, starting with being the assistant of his first piano teacher at the age of 16 and later creating his own piano studio in Belgium. He was appointed piano teacher at the Tchaikovsky Music School in Brussels where he taught for two and a half years. Geoffroy really enjoyed working there because of the variety of students, from 4 to 65, that he was able to teach both in French and in English.
A graduate of “ Le Verseau International School” in Bierges-Belgium, Geoffroy is currently pursuing his Bachelor’s degree at the Manhattan School of Music under the the guidance of Mr. Epstein after having studied with Ms. Hagit Kerbel and Prof. Boyan Vodenitcharov in Belgium.
New York City based Belgian pianist Geoffroy C. thrives both in solo and chamber music repertoire. He has won major prizes in European competitions including a first prize in the second Steinway Piano Competition for Young Talents in Belgium. His many awards include a prize for the best interpretation of a contemporary work in the 10th Balys Dvarionas International Piano Competition, Vilnius-Lithuania, and an honorary mention in the 10th International Competition “Young Virtuosos” in Sofia-Bulgaria. Geoffroy is a recipient of scholarships from the “Robus Foundation”, “Cronos International” and his hometown, the city of Waterloo for his cultural achievement.
Since performing his first solo recital at the age of 15, Geoffroy has given recitals in New York, Belgium, France, England and the Netherlands and has collaborated with musicians all across Europe and in the US. He has been a soloist with many orchestras including the National Orchestra of Belgium, the Brussels Chamber Orchestra, I Musici Brucellensis and the Musica Mundi Orchestra. Recent collaborations include a performance with the renowned pianist Nicholas Angelich in the Center for Fine Arts in Brussels and concerts with Itamar Golan, Liav Kerbel, Kaliya Kalcheva, Mikhail Radunski and Fien Van Den Fonteyne.
Geoffroy’s eagerness for learning has led him to take part of prestigious festivals and master classes with distinguished artists such as Menahem Pressler, Boris Berman,Nicholas Angelich, Dmitri Bashkirov, Dmitri Alexeev, Ivry Giltis, Itamar Golan, Elena Ashkenazy among others. He has attended Thims in the Netherlands, the Jersey International Master Classes in England and “Musica Mundi” in Belgium, where, after being a student for eight summers, he served as Young Faculty member in 2017 and 2018.
