As a voice teacher, Giovanna has taught for almost 10 years, instructing different ages of students from kids to adults. She teaches different types of singing ranging from classical to musical theater, and from beginning to professional level.

Bio

Soprano Giovanna Y., based in NYC, is an up-and-coming opera singer known for her bell-like expressive voice. As a professional classical singer, Giovanna had the privilege of performing in opera and concert settings across the country. She has been engaged by several opera companies including Florida Grand Opera and Music on site, Inc. Giovanna had the honor of singing the leading role in the world premiere “The Leopard”, an opera whose album was officially released by the premier classical label Naxos Records. Her performances have been reviewed by prestigious critics like OperaWire, The European Conservative, South Florida Classical Review, etc. Opera Wire described her as “exceedingly charming” and “exuberant and soaring.” She was honored to receive praise from South Florida Classical Review, where she displayed a larger-than-life stage persona and a gleaming high register. Major opera roles include Lucy in “The Telephone,” Zerlina in “Don Giovanni,” Pamina “Die Zauberflöte,” Frasquita in “Carmen,” Miles in “The Turn of the Screw,” the title role in “Lucia di Lammermoor,” Norina in “Don Pasquale,” Sophie in “Der Rosenkavalier” and, Susanna in Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro.”

In addition to her operatic work, she is an active recitalist and holds three Doctoral voice recitals with an extra lecture recital during 2021-2024. Her performing career has taken her to some of America’s most prominent venues, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and the Kimmel Center. She sang as the soprano soloist in “Carmina Burana” with the Frost Symphony Orchestra in 2022.

Giovanna is a prizewinner of many competitions. Recent awards include Florida chapter winner in Dorothy Lincoln-Smith Voice Award, Second Prize in NATS Florida Gold Coast Chapter, Second Prize in American Music Talent Competition, Second Prize in Classical Music Stars, First Prize in London Classical Music Competition, Gold Price in German Euterpe Awards Competition, Third Prize in London International Music Competition, and Third Prize in International ArtSong OPUS Competition.
