Born in Tianjin, China, Hanyi M. began her piano studies when she was four. She earned her first international prize at the 6th Asian Youth Music Competition in 2007.

Hanyi has resided in the United States since 2010. Alongside her activity as a pianist, she has studied the harpsichord, clavichord and pianoforte. During her studies at Oberlin College and NYU Steinhardt, she held numerous public performances, including degree recitals, master classes appearances, and chamber music showcases. She has recently held her solo recitals at Steinway Hall, and Yamaha artist service, New York.

A virtuosic pianist with an interest in the intersection of different cultures, Hanyi is currently exploring works influenced by traditional Chinese music in the Western music genres. She recently earned her master’s degree at NYU Steinhardt, where she studied with Artist Faculty member Alexander Kobrin. Also interested in art administration and management, she is the Development Director at the French-American Piano Society, a non-profit organization that prompts culture exchange between pianists from France and the United States.
