A committed educator, Helen is a Steinway & Sons Educational Partner. Helen has served as Adjunct Faculty in Piano Studies at New York University, teaching and designing individual lessons and keyboard skills classes. She has also taught at various music schools and the Illinois Summer Youth Music (ISYM) program.
Bio
Chinese-American pianist Helen J. is a versatile performer and dedicated educator based in New York City. Helen began performing publicly at the age of four and won her first national competition at the age of six. Recipient of multiple awards and scholarships, Helen has performed extensively in the United States and abroad. Her most recent performance appearances include her solo recital in the John A. Paulson Center in New York City, an appearance at the Tisch Auditorium in New York City, and at Junior Soto Recital Hall in Puerto Rico. Rooted in classical piano, Helen is dedicated to exploring different genres of keyboard music and is an enthusiastic collaborator, with experience in both musical theater and traditional classical settings, including the NYU Broadway Orchestra, the University of Illinois Symphony Orchestra, and various baroque ensembles. Helen participated and gave a world premiere in NYU’s Tutte le Corde festival 2025 –a collaboration between composers and pianists–resulting in the world premiere of several new works.
