Bio
Since 2013, Jakob has had a passion for passing on musical knowledge to the next generation. His bass students have scored 100% on NYSSMA levels 3, 4, 5, and 6 and participated in New York State all-county and area-all-state orchestras. Jakob equally teaches classical and jazz, electric bass, music theory and composition depending on the students’ interests and aspirations.
Jakob holds a Bachelor of Music from the Eastman School of Music and recently completed the year-long, full-scholarship Focusyear Band fellowship in Basel, Switzerland. He has regularly studied bass with multi-grammy nominee Scott Colley and composition with MacArthur Fellow Miguel Zenón.
As a bandleader and sideman, Jakob has performed throughout the US, as well as abroad in Switzerland, Austria, and several Spanish cities.
