Bio
Jen P. is a professional Vocalist, Songwriter, Composer and Musician. As an alum from the accredited “FAME” LaGuardia Arts High School, Jen has training in a wide range of vocal styles, spanning across Classical/Opera, Musical Theater, Gospel, Jazz, Folk, and Contemporary/ Popular Music. She also studied Piano and Songwriting through her chosen elective courses.
Following her time at LaGuardia, Jen continued her music studies at the State University of New York at New Paltz and earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Music, with a concentration in Recording & Electronic Music. Having experience in many musical styles, this path afforded her the best way to study all styles of music offered in the department (Jazz, Classical, and Contemporary) while gaining songwriting/compositional, music production, music theory, and instrumental skills.
Because of this multidisciplinary approach to her music education, Jen has a variety of skills to teach students, as she is proficient in vocal music, guitar, piano, songwriting and production. As a music educator, Jen has ample experience teaching private voice and guitar lessons, as well as facilitating Group Singing and Piano classes. She recently worked as a Teaching Artist in the South Bronx, and worked as a music facilitator as an Artist Fellow for the Bethany Arts Community up in Westchester, NY. She approaches her work from a place of collaboration, consistency, and communication; and is passionate about getting students excited about their instrument. By understanding the student’s personal musical influences, goals and artistic voice, she is able to keep lessons engaging while instilling proper technique, music theory and fundamental skills into repertoire.
