Experience

Jocylin is a passionate flutist who has been teaching elementary and middle school students since 2018. She has taught all levels of flute, guitar and ukulele.  During the lessons with her students, she focuses on musicality, technique, tone, and musicianship, while helping her students appreciate the great privilege we have to be able to learn and play music together.

Bio

Jocylin B. is from The Bay Area, California, where she started playing flute in 5th grade. She is now enrolled at Manhattan School of Music in New York City and studies with Professor Linda Chesis from the Paris Conservatory. Jocylin was co-principal flute of the Golden State Youth Orchestra’s Senior Symphony for her last two years of High School, and now is in the New York Youth Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Mr. Andrew J Kim. Jocylin has attended numerous competitions such as the American Protege International Concerto Competition 2022, Junior Bach Festival, US International Open Music Competition, and Great Composers International Competition. She has also attended many summer institutes such as The Juilliard School’s Summer Winds Program, Le Domaine Forget De Charlevoix, Flute Summer Intensive at the Eastman School of Music, Northern California Flute Camp, and California Orchestra Academy. Jocylin has played for many renowned flutists from all over the world, including Emmanuel Pahud, Sir James Galway, Jim Walker, Catherine Karoly, and Carol Wincenc.
