Experience

Julie began teaching by assisting her mother, who owns a piano studio. She has also worked in music studios in New York. Over the years, she has taught children from age 5 to high school students.

Bio

Julie L. is a Korean American pianist based in New York. She began her musical studies at the age of four. After moving to the United States, she studied under Jeffrey Biegel. Julie made her solo debut with the LaGuardia High School Symphony Orchestra during her sophomore year, performing Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2. She has also played Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Santa Monica Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Roger Kalia, at the Redlands Bowl.

Julie is a winner of numerous competitions, including the Redlands Bowl Concerto Competition, the New York Laureate International Music Competition, the Global Musical Arts Concerto Competition, the VITAS International Music Competition, the National YoungArts Foundation, the LaGuardia High School Concerto Competition, the New York Music Competition (YWCA), and the Baltimore International Piano Competition.

She has participated in various music festivals, such as the East Carolina Piano Festival, the Baltimore International Festival, and Pianists in the Mountains. Julie has also received guidance from renowned artists during masterclasses with Gary Graffman, Pavel Nersessian, Andrew Tyson, and Renana Gutman.

As a chamber musician, she took part in the New York Youth Symphony Chamber Music program, and her high school quintet won the regional CIM of the Lincoln Center Chamber Music Competition. Currently, Julie is an undergraduate student at the Manhattan School of Music, pursuing a degree in piano performance under the mentorship of Inesa Sinkevych.
