Katy F. is a woodwind specialist from Milwaukee, WI where she was involved in exploring new music as well as finding her love for musical theatre pit orchestras. While in Milwaukee, Katy studied saxophone, clarinet, and flute under the tutelage of Curt Hanrahan, Dr. Nicki Roman, and Dr. Jennifer Clippert. During her time there she performed with the Grammy nominated Milwaukee Jazz Orchestra (MJO), nationally renowned contemporary music ensemble Present Music, and the Sheboygan Symphony Orchestra. Katy has had the pleasure of premiering chamber works by nationally known composers such as Logan Rutledge, Olivia Kieffer, and Ethan Cypress.

In addition to her performance agenda, Katy has a passion for music education and teaches private lessons on all of her woodwind instruments. Katy appreciates the opportunity to provide educational clinics and master classes as a soloist and as a chamber musician.

Katy moved to the greater NYC area where she began to pursue her master’s degree in woodwind doubling at Montclair State University where she studies under Chad Smith, Wendy Stern, and Harry Searing. She is a member of the faculty of the extension division at Montclair State where she provides private lessons and chamber coaching.

Most recently, Katy was on the national Broadway tour of Chicago the Musical as a member of the orchestra.

Katy holds a B.F.A. in woodwind doubling from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
