- Lauren has over 15 years of experience teaching drums privately and in classroom settings.
A native of Oakland, CA, Lauren started playing drums at the age of 10. By 13, she was drumming in a punk band with her friends; writing original music and performing live. At 19, she joined the band Minipop. They recorded multiple records, and toured across the country performing at SXSW and CMJ festivals and opening for groups such as Tegan and Sara, Metric, and Cursive.
At Berklee College of Music, Lauren studied under drummers Mike Mangini, Tony “Thunder” Smith, and others while pursuing her Bachelors in Music Production and Engineering.
After graduating in 2012, Lauren moved back to the Bay Area and began working as a live sound engineer, mixing at venues such as The Fillmore and touring across the country again, this time as the Front of House engineer for bands.
Lauren has performed and recorded extensively on the drums over the last 20 years most notably with the groups Topographies, Lauren O’Connell, and Minipop. She also sings and plays guitar, bass, keys and drums in the band, To The Wedding.
