Bio
Coming from a very musical family, Madeline has been taking instrumental lessons, performed in theatre productions, rock bands, as well as choirs ever since she was a child. After a brief departure to focus on a STEM and a BS in Polymer Chemistry, she pursued a BA in Music at UNC. This led her to rekindling her love for music and composition, and ultimately finding her passion in creating and teaching music. She studied classical and musical theatre voice under Dr. Eugene Galvin, was a part of Charanga Carolina (UNC Latin Jazz group), and regularly music directed and worked with musical theatre and a cappella groups on campus.
Since graduating, she has taught group and private lessons with multiple private schools, public schools, community theatres, and studios in Charlotte (NC) and NYC area. She regularly writes and performs her own solo music in NYC and has worked as a performer and musician in various theatre productions in the area. Some recent productions include: The Human Dream Project (by Admiral Grey) and Brace Yourself (a new musical by Gian Gibboney and Hannah Morley).
Madeline’s teaching philosophy is rooted in creating a safe and welcoming space for her students. She wants her students to be introduced to music in a fun and engaging way, instilling a joy and curiosity for it that will continue through their life. She caters her lessons to each student’s goals and interests, and tries to find the best skills and techniques that will help to reach them. She loves to incorporate music composition, music theory, and cross-instrumental/genre techniques as well. Striving to create musically inclined, well-rounded students, Madeline gives her students music foundations that will let them thrive in their musical journeys.
