Bio
Brazilian bassist Marcelo M. has established himself as an exciting bandleader and in-demand sideman on the New York scene.
Growing up playing a whole range of styles – rock, electronic music, Brazilian, pop – he took the opportunity of studying at Berklee College of Music in Boston to immerse himself fully in music.
The result is a truly authentic fusion of sounds which, whilst modern and electric, never loses sight of the improvisation and communication central to jazz.
He delivers a truly unique take on electric jazz with a more progressive and experimental approach while also highlighting rhythms from his native country, Brazil, focusing on lots of interplay, which feels quite spirited for his band truly listen to each other. Psychedelic on his approach and free on his performance, Marcelo has established himself not only as a unique and talented performer, but also as a prolific composer and bandleader with three albums under his belt, exploring new frontiers with the Electric Bass in the center of the spotlight.
