Experience

Maxim tutored his peers in high school as part of the ARISTA honors society. During the COVID-19 lockdowns, Maxim taught piano over Zoom. Throughout college, he helped his fellow students in music theory. Maxim was also a teaching/technical assistant for 4.5 years at the Teaching Soundstage at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.

Bio

Maxim began playing piano at the age of 5 and composing at 13. On Saturdays he took classes in Music Theory, Piano Ensemble, Chamber Music, and Music Composition. At Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School as a piano major, he furthered his musical education by playing French horn in the orchestra. As a pianist, Maxim played in world-famous venues such as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. In college, he composed for the concert stage, film, and dance. His compositions have been played in Lincoln Center here in New York City and abroad in Salzburg and Vienna, Austria. Maxim was awarded the Irving Caesar Composition Scholarship from ASCAP and is a two-time recipient of the Diane Koston Fellowship. At New York University he won Steinhardt’s Music and Performing Arts Professions Departmental Award, Steinhardt’s Undergraduate Student Research and Creative Project Grant, and the Concert Composition Competition for his orchestral work “An American in Vienna”. Recently Maxim won the Society for New Music NY Federation of  Music Clubs/ Brian Israel Prize with his string quartet “Der Bodensee”.
