Melissa has 10 years of performing experience and 5 years of teaching professionally.
She holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Classical Vocal Performance from Manhattan School of Music.
Melissa L., soprano, celebrates new musical projects and collaborates with other artists to create her own multifaceted music. She recently recorded her first EP, entitled OurGlass, with piano and voice. Melissa’s most recent operatic roles include Emmie in Albert Herring and Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance. She has studied scenes from Die Fledermaus, Don Giovanni, Die Entfuring aus dem serail, and Black Widow. Sixteen year chorus member of the Hungarian State Opera, Ildiko Rozs, states that “Melissa’s speaking eyes and expressive voice meets with the soul of the music she performs.” Melissa has performed with the Delaware Valley Opera Company in the choruses of La Sonnambula, Madama Butterfly, and Carmen, and she was the Second Place winner of the New York Lyric Opera Theatre’s National Opera Competition.
Currently, Melissa works with NYU Tisch students to create musical theater outreach shows, such as The Wizard of Oz for children in New York. Melissa has been sought after as a liturgical singer and sings both for Sunday church services and Jewish High Holidays in the Greater New York Area. She was recently hired to sing a themed solo recital for the Jewish holiday, Selichot, with Juilliard pianist, Ruobing Zhang at Temple Beth El.
