Israel native Naama G. is a New York based jazz vocalist inspired by the emotionally direct compositions of Rodgers and Hart, Fields and Hugh, Cole Porter and other great composers and lyricists of the 1930’s and ‘40’s. Possessed with an urbane and elegant voice, Naama’s sensitive interpretation and crisp phrasing have become recognizable elements of her signature style and timeless appeal.
When she was six years old, she started to study piano and went on to do so for the following 10 years of her life. At 16 years of age she began voice lessons and quickly shifted towards the jazz genre.
In 2012 following her mandatory military service in Israel, Naama was accepted to the prestigious program “The Center For Jazz Studies, partnered with the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music” in Tel Aviv. There Naama studied jazz and classical voice as well as piano. In 2015 she was offered a generous scholarship from The New School University and relocated to NYC where she completed her studies for a BFA in jazz performance and graduated with honors.
Today, Naama is a professional jazz vocalist leading her band all over the city as well as abroad, she has performed at acclaimed jazz venues including Smalls Jazz Club, The Cell Theater and Fat Cat Jazz Club. Naama teaches music theory, piano and voice to children and adults, both in group and private sessions. She conducts workshops for jazz vocalists, musicians of all instruments and the general public. Her background and teaching style allow her students to make noticeable progress in a short amount of time.
