Bio
Nic C. is a bassist, guitarist, composer and musical director from Los Angeles, CA. Nic has studied and performed with musicians and educators Tyshawn Sorey, Paula Matthusen, Jay Hoggard, Jocelyn Pleasant, Mike Cottone and Mitch Glickman. Nic has played at venues like Carnegie Hall, the Whisky A-Go-Go, the Roxy and Crowell Concert Hall. At Wesleyan University, Nic participated in ensembles ranging from jazz and Creative Music to AfroPop and Experimental music. Nic was awarded Wesleyan’s 2022 Gwen Livingston-Pokora prize for undergraduate composition in music after completing a senior thesis project consisting of solo electric bass and quartet pieces. Nic’s musical practice strongly revolves around education, having been teaching guitar, bass and piano privately since sophomore year of high school. As a freshman at Wesleyan, Nic co-founded WesLessons, an on-campus organization dedicated towards providing students with affordable music instruction. Nic is extremely excited to work with new students and families in New York City!
