Bio

“The foundation of Nicholas’s craft is complex, energetic, fluid counterpoint, with many sudden changes in rhythm, meter, and tempo… without a second wasted” – Mike Greenberg, 7/10/23, Classical Voice North America

Nicholas B. is a Manhattan-based composer, violinist, guitarist, and arranger. His concert works aim to light up the senses of audience-goers through intensive repetition, extra-musical consideration towards orchestration, and a focus on musical illusions. Nick grew up in a touring, non-profit community orchestra founded by his family, and is deeply committed to the development of the arts.

Nick’s music has been showcased across the United States and abroad, with premiers from solo artists such as Frantisek Brikcius, Sasha Beresovsky, Juliet Schreiber, Sommer Altier, and Iwo Jedynecki, and ensembles such as Polymorphia, the JRive Jazz Quartet, Florida State University’s PRISM concert series, the Rhythm Method, BlackBox Ensemble, the Viridian Quartet, and Unheard-Of//Ensemble. He was a participating artist in Unheard-of//Ensemble’s annual Collaborative Composition Initiative workshop, premiering and recording an electro-acoustic octet titled, En Route (to an installation in Brooklyn), and a duet for Bass Clarinet and Cello accompanied by live electronics titled, De Materia Medica.
