Experience
Om is a passionate and enthusiastic instructor with over 16 years of teaching experience in both private and higher education settings. He served as Adjunct Professor of Saxophone at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) and Xavier University for 8 years, where he also instructed woodwind courses, chamber music, and music history. He is adept in solo and ensemble coaching, as well as collegiate and honor ensemble audition prep. In 2024 he relocated to NYC where he now regularly teaches and performs, and where he also conducted work as a quality consultant musician for D’Addario, the largest saxophone and clarinet reed and accessory manufacturer in North America. His combined experiences in the freelance, academic, and corporate musical realms are a unique background in imparting invaluable knowledge to students. He instructs all ages and has taught students from age 8 to 80.
Bio
Praised for his “virtuosity” and “melodic and rhythmic acrobatics” by the NACWPI Journal, Om is a performer, composer, and recording artist with 16 years of teaching experience. He has performed throughout the United States and abroad including performances at the Lincoln Center, North American Saxophone Alliance (NASA), and the New York Public Theater. With a diversified performance career, he has been named a finalist in the Coleman International Chamber Competition and semi-finalist in the NASA Competition. In 2015, he was awarded an IndianRaga Fellowship for world music and in 2017 was named a Fellow at the New Music Sessions in Cortona, Italy. In recent years he has been a recipient of multiple composition grants and commissions by professional groups and organizations such as Price Hill Will, PASIC, The Carolina Quartet and New Thread Quartet. Notable collaborations include performing alongside Tony Award winner Matthew Morrison and the Lexington Pops, renowned world guitarist Fareed Haque at Dizzy’s Club, and the RagaTone Ensemble at Joe’s Pub in New York City.
