Education

  • Bachelor of Arts in Musicology from Humboldt University of Berlin, Germany
  • Master of Music in Music Theory and Composition with a concentration in Songwriting from NYU. During his time at NYU, Oskari was named a Songwriters Hall of Fame Scholar.

Experience

  • As a music educator, Oskari has several years of experience teaching private instrumental lessons, band and regular music lessons in a classroom setting, and being a teaching assistant at NYU. He specializes in skills catered towards singer-songwriters and their accompanists but through his vast academic and professional background, he can also develop students’ skills in styles ranging from pop, rock, to jazz. Oskari has a thorough overview of theoretical and performance education and he is also proficient in music production, recording, and notation (incl. notation software).

Bio

Oskari is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, composer, and producer originally from Helsinki, Finland. He studied Musicology at Humboldt University of Berlin, Germany, and during his undergraduate degree, he also spent a year studying Ethnomusicology, Audio Technology, and Music Business at UCLA’s renowned Herb Alpert School of Music in Los Angeles, California. Additionally, he recently graduated with a master’s degree in Songwriting from NYU.

Over the years, Oskari has had the pleasure to write and/or perform with artists such as Finnish pop icon Mika Ikonen and Sony Music Finland recording artist Jenna Alexa. He has also been writing, recording, and performing as a singer-songwriter for the past nine years which has enabled him to play at venues such as the old House of Blues Sunset in Los Angeles and the legendary Finlandia Hall in Helsinki, Finland. His current projects include finishing up his EP which is going to be released later this year, music supervising and composing for a dance gala in his home country, and composing music for different multimedia outlets.
