Bio
Payton is a guitarist, composer, and educator living in Brooklyn, NY. Payton’s music is rooted in everything from jazz, rock, classical, and pop. Along with his unique combination of influences, his music is focused around expressing specific emotions and feelings through composition. A graduate from The New School of Jazz and Contemporary Music, Payton has studied with masters of jazz including Reggie Workman, Billy Harper, Jane Ira Bloom, Matt Wilson, Dave Gasser, Peter Bernstein, Vic Juris and many others. He has had the opportunity to perform in the Burlington Jazz Festival, Flynnspace, as well as several venues in New York City. Payton also loves teaching and helping students on their own musical paths.
