Experience
- Quinton has taught piano and music theory to students of all ages ranging from 3 to 80 years old. He continues to teach both in person and virtual lessons, some of his students being international. He is a proud member of the Piano Teachers Congress of New York City and Music Teachers National Association.
Bio
Quinton N. is from the small town of Sherwood, Wisconsin and teaches a large piano studio based in New York City. He has performed across the United States and internationally in Italy, South Africa, and China. His most memorable performances have been in Lincoln Center’s David Geffen Hall, Carnegie Hall, and National Bohemian Hall.
He has participated and performed in some of the leading music festivals around the globe including Montecito’s International Music Festival, Miami Music Festival, Amalfi Coast Music Festival, and Beijing’s International Keyboard Festival. In 2019 he was awarded a full scholarship to participate in the International Keyboard Institute in Manhattan NY. He was also a semifinalist in the Vivo International Piano Competition.
Quinton moved away from home at the young age of fourteen to pursue piano performance at Interlochen Arts Academy. In 2016 he worked under the leadership of Nico Muhly to premiere a piece with the Interlochen Arts Academy Orchestra at Lincoln Center. He also premiered a piece by Ashley Fure, ‘Bound to the Bow’, with the Interlochen Arts Academy Orchestra which brought critical acclaim and was later nominated as a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize.
He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance with honors from Mannes School of Music in 2020. He is currently working on his masters degree on a merit-based scholarship at Mannes. He has worked with music teachers from all around the world and has gained invaluable knowledge on Russian, Asian, European, and American performance ideals and techniques.
In 2017 Quinton founded the Performing Arts Club to give back to his community in Wisconsin. He set up community service performances for students around the area to help spread awareness for the arts. He also invited guest speakers and performers to teach students and give them an idea of what it is like to be a performing artist.
