Experience
Randella loves teaching violin and piano! She has taught students as young as 3 in a variety of settings including public school classrooms, afterschool programs, independent private lessons, orchestra settings, and summer camps. Her diverse musical experiences allow her to remain flexible and reach the musical needs of her students through their own interests while maintaining the integrity and rigour of the study.
Bio
Randella is a violinist and pianist originally from Berkeley, CA. She attended San Francisco State University, where she received the John Handy Scholarship for Jazz Studies and later earned her CA Single Subject Teaching Credential in Music. A passionate and dedicated educator, she has taught 1:1 lessons and group classes in a wide variety of settings to students age 4 and up. With years of classroom experience teaching music to lower elementary students, she has a keen understanding and enthusiasm for the physical and cognitive developmental stages of young students. Her greatest goal is to foster a love and joy of music in her students. She has studied and performed European classical music, jazz, and various folk and popular traditions of music from Latin America. She is currently pursuing her PhD in Ethnomusicology at the City University of New York, Graduate Center.
