Throughout his teaching career spanning over five years, Sam has developed a teaching approach that not only focuses on technical skills but also nurtures a deep understanding and appreciation for songwriting and playing styles, allowing his student body to develop their own unique voices on the guitar. His instruction focuses on music theory, improvisational techniques, songwriting tips, music reading, fingerstyle playing and other important aspects of developing a well-rounded skill set as a musician. His commitment to providing comprehensive music education and adapting to his students’ needs has helped him build lasting relationships with all of his students.
Bio
Sam O. moved to New York City from his hometown of Syracuse, NY to pursue a life in music in 2018. He is currently a solo singer-songwriter based in Brooklyn where he hones his captivating performance style and shapes his recordings in his home and in studios around the area. Embedded into music scenes across many New York neighborhoods, Sam performs original material across multiple venues around the city and releases music on a regular basis. Always in love with the craft of songwriting, he started writing songs at the age of ten and recording just a few years after in his small Upstate, NY town. Early recordings of his music were born from an 8-track recorder/drum machine and later from a local studio in town as his craftsmanship matured into his teenage years. He has studied guitar under multiple teachers throughout his teenage years, allowing him to approach music making and improvisation from many different perspectives.
