Although Taylor E. only received her Master’s Degree in Music Education in 2019, she has been teaching lessons to youngsters since she was a high school student in Agoura Hills, California.

She didn’t know then that she was destined to be a teacher. She was more interested in performance on her main instrument, the flute.

Inspired by her middle school and high school band leaders, Taylor excelled in woodwind instruments early on, playing in both concert bands and jazz bands. She availed herself of an impressive list of private teachers including Dan Higgins, Toby Caplan-Stonefield and Jim Walker during that time period and much later, Judith Mendenhall.

She was accepted into Berklee College of Music as a classical flute performance major, remaining there a year and a half before realizing she was more interested in teaching than performing.

“Through my teaching experiences, I have gained an immense clarity and passion for expanding students’ knowledge and helping them navigate life through music. I aim to provide students with a solid musical foundation in addition to a well-rounded, safe and respectful community,” Taylor says.

She received her Bachelors of Arts degree in music at Queens College during which time she briefly taught at an after-school program in Harlem called Harmony, a non-profit organization through CUNY located throughout all five boroughs.

Taylor continued her education at Hunter College in Manhattan where she obtained her Master’s Degree.

Currently she is enjoying teaching music to all ages in private lessons, music programs of all kinds and working as a visiting artist at various schools.
