Bio

Born in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, Vlad’s father, a violinist in the Transylvania State Philharmonic Orchestra, discovered his gift for music. Vlad began studying the violin at the School of Music Sigismund Toduta in Cluj. In 2015, he was awarded the “President’s International String Quartet Scholarship”, a full scholarship that brought him to the United States to complete his Bachelor’s degree in music performance at Western Illinois University, under the guidance of Dr. Julieta Mihai. Vlad auditioned at Manhattan School of Music to pursue his Masters degree and was awarded the prestigious “Robert Mann Endowed Scholarship for Violin and Chamber Studies.” In August 2019 Vlad began his studies at the MSM under the guidance of Lucie Robert.

Following the completion of his Master’s degree, Vlad was accepted into the MSM’s Professional Studies program. Since the beginning of his studies at MSM, he has been chosen as the concertmaster for various cycles and performances under maestro George Manahan. Over the years, Vlad has participated in various national competitions and olympiads in which he has received many awards. He has given recitals and concerts as a soloist with the School of Music and the Philharmonic orchestras of both Romania and the U.S. His life-long passion for chamber music and solo repertoire pushes Vlad to continue exploring the secrets of violin technique and interpretation.
