Bio

A native of Shenzhen, China, Wangshu X. enjoys living and working in New York City. She believes performing arts celebrate and nourish families and communities. Through teaching and performing, she strives to bring practical, aesthetic, and enjoyable experience.

Wangshu started playing at 8 years old and came to the United States at the age of 14. She won first place in American Protégé Concerto Competition in 2016, and second place in American Protégé Piano and Strings Competition, which she was invited to perform at the Weill Hall at the Carnegie Hall. As a chamber musician, Wangshu has participated in intense chamber programs such as Music@Menlo and Juilliard ChamberFest where she was mentored by David Finckel, Wu Han, Paul Neubauer, and Clive Greensmith. As a member of the Marian Quartet, they won first place at Saint Paull String Quartet Competition in 2022. They made their debut in Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center and has performed in Tenri Cultural Center and David Rubenstein Atrium in New York City. As an orchestral cellist, Wangshu has held the position of principal cellist of the Manhattan Symphony Orchestra and the Youth Philharmonic Orchestra at NEC Prep. She had performed in Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, Jordan Hall in Boston, Harpa Hall in Iceland, Oslo Konserthus, Grieghallen and Stavanger Konserthus in Norway.
