Laura S. is a New York City based freelance violist. She enjoys a multifaceted career spanning many genres-from classical to jazz to pop music. Laura has performed in many prominent venues throughout New York City such as Carnegie Hall, Madison Square Garden, Town Hall, and the Beacon Theater. She has attended the Aspen Summer Music Festival where she performed with the Aspen Festival Orchestra alongside world famous soloists and conductors. Performance highlights include playing alongside Glenn Dicterow at Carnegie Hall, playing with The Eagles at the Beacon theater, and performing in a solo Glenn Frey concert at NYC’s Town Hall. Laura can be heard on the soundtrack of the Sundance film, Indignation. TV performances include NBC’s “Celebrity Apprentice” and Saturday Night Live. Laura is presently a violist/violinist member in the house band on NBC’s “Maya and Mary.”
Born in Fairfield, Connecticut, Laura received a Bachelors Degree and Masters degree from New York University in viola performance and music education. She received a second Masters degree from the Manhattan School of Music in classical viola performance.
