Daniel is a Pianist, Accompanist, Improviser, Composer and Teacher. Daniel received a Bachelor’s Degree in Classical Piano Performance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign under Professor Timothy Ehlen, and went on to pursue graduate study in Classical Performance at the Instituto Superior de Artes, Costa Rica.
In both places and in New York where he now resides, Daniel has pursued a wide variety of musical disciplines including Vocal, Instrumental and Dance Accompaniment, Composition, Arranging and teaching in both English and Spanish.
Over the past decade Daniel has taught students of all ages Classical Repertoire, Improvisation Technique and Western Tonal Theory. Having adopted Spanish as a second language, he saw the opportunity and gained experience teaching in his second language while studying in Costa Rica.
Specializing in both Classical Performance and Improvisation, Daniel instructs, composes, collaborates, and accompanies in dance schools throughout New York. There he works with students and performers of all ages, from three year old beginners, to Professional Company Performers, utilizing daily a deep understanding of Classical Performance Technique, Western Tonal Theory and collaborative practice to perform in all styles from Classical Repertoire, to Flamenco, to Jazz, to pure improvisation.
