Kiyan is a contemporarily, R&B, rock and classically trained pianist and vocalist, hailing from Toronto, Canada. His experiences are wide well beyond his years, having trained with Metropolitan Opera Concerto finalist Misook Yun for 3 years at the Dana School of Music, serving as the director of countless bands from rock to wedding, performing at the world famous Apollo Theater in Harlem, House of Blues in Cleveland, and House of Blues in Los Angeles, and a long list of collaborations with Grammy and Tony winning music directors and vocalists.
Kiyan currently resides in Brooklyn, New York, where he is a full-time recording artist and teacher. His teaching style is holistic, focusing on the kinesthetic element of music, making harmony between the body and mind in order to achieve the easiest, most effective sound for each student. Theory and piano are integral parts of all music lessons, in which he is apt to enlighten students of any age of the structural backbone of music. These all come together and help make sense of what the layman knows as the “magical” part of music, what he believes is any musicians greatest asset.
