Sophia is currently pursuing a Master’s degree at The Juilliard School under the tutelage of David Chan and Catherine Cho. She received her Bachelor’s at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music.

Born in 1992, Sophia began her violin studies at the age of three in Chicago, Illinois. Since then, Sophia has been an avid performer and collaborator throughout the States.
After winning the Grand Prize at the New Praise Hymn Competition, she made her Carnegie debut at the Weill Recital Hall. She soloed with the Chicago Youth Concert Orchestra as well as performed at international venues such as the Tel Aviv Performing Arts Center, Turin Performance Hall, College of Charleston Sottile Theatre, and Chicago Cultural Center. She has taken part in master classes with Ilya Kaler, Joel Smirnoff, Pamela Frank, and the Miro Quartet.
In addition to her performances, Sophia has participated in many distinguished summer festivals such as the Aspen Music Festival, Music Academy of the West, Fontainebleau School of Music, Keshet Eilon Violin Mastercourse, Encore School for Strings, and Valdres Sommersymfoni.
As an avid chamber musician, Sophia has won numerous awards with her quartet such as the Gold Medal at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition Junior Division and the Silver Medal at the St. Paul String Quartet Competition. With her quartet, she was featured on NPR’s From The Top and on Chicago’s 98.7 WFMT’s “Introductions” program.
