As a teacher, Dan has led workshops, masterclasses and a private studio around NJ and NY, and focuses on technique, aural skills, improvisation, targeted listening and improving general musicianship.

Dan L. is a trombonist, composer and educator living in New York City. He graduated with a B.M. in Jazz Performance from William Paterson University, studying under John Mosca and Tim Newman, and is an alum of the School of Improvised Music Workshop. He regularly performs in many jazz and popular music styles (salsa, hip-hop, Bhangra, trad jazz, R ‘n’ B etc) around the city, has performed with jazz luminaries like Norah Jones and Orrin Evans, and leads his own improvising small groups, focusing on original music. He has contributed to the soundtrack of the 2013 film “Enemy” and has toured the U.S. and Europe with the group Karikatura.
