With voice and music education degrees from both the Eastman School of Music and Interlochen Arts Academy, Lena has an expert grasp of vocal technique and musicality, which informs her teaching and coaching of all styles. A currently active professional singer-songwriter in pop, jazz, and electronic genres, she is uniquely able to coach and understand those styles in addition to the classical training. She helps students train and audition for prestigious vocal conservatory programs, coaches young songwriting students, and guides beginners in the early stages of voice, piano, and music learning. Her experience in Alexander technique, yoga, and both ballet and modern dance, lends a deeper understanding of how to free tensions in the body and breathe, leading to greater ease in playing and singing. Students of Lena will receive well-balanced and holistic training in music. They will work with solfege, sing and play patterns, develop their ear, improvise, tune in with their body movements, understand the psychology of practicing and performing, learn how to maximize practice routines, and cultivate a lifelong relationship with music, which will enrich their lives!
