Flutist, Shannon V. is from Minotola, New Jersey. She studies with Robert Langevin at the Manhattan School of Music and received her undergraduate degree in Flute Performance at The Hartt School, studying with Janet Arms. Shannon has performed in masterclasses in the United States and Canada. Performance highlights include Mahler’s Symphony no. 2 at Carnegie Hall with MahlerforVision, as well as new music performances at the Dark Days Festival in Reykjavik, Iceland. She has participated in summer music festivals such as the Hot Springs Music Festival, Orford Cent’re de Arts and Tanglewood Music Center. Shannon is an avid soloist, chamber and orchestra musician, as well as recording artist. She can be heard on Naxos Recordings with the Hartt Wind Ensemble. She can be heard performing regularly with the Nutmeg Symphony and various ensembles along the East Coast. Shannon has been a Fellow of the Hartt School’s 20/20 Chamber Music program. She is the winner of the Fuchs Chamber Music Competition. She is an advocate for new music and enjoys teaching and studying works from every era. Shannon believes studying music is one of the most profound personal journeys one can take. She believes teaching music to be a privilege and takes each student’s personal goals and growth very seriously. She emphasizes a strong foundation in technique and cultivates a safe and nurturing environment so that students can feel comfortable to grow and enjoy themselves. She thinks everyone learns differently and enjoys adapting teaching styles to fit the needs of her students.
