Lucas has been playing music for 15 years. His original background was playing rock and folk music. It wasn’t long until he decided to become a classical musician. At the age of 13, Lucas started studying music theory on his own. After a few short years he became proficient in reading and writing music. Realizing his potential as a professional musician, Lucas enrolled in college in Classical Guitar Performance. He went on to receive a top notch education from some of the best schools of New Jersey and New York: Mannes School of Music, The College of New Jersey, and Morris County Community College. At these schools he trained in performance, music theory, music pedagogy, music history, and aural skills. Besides the multiple recitals he has performed at these schools, Lucas has played in and around the tri-state area. In NYC, Philadelphia, Upstate NY, and throughout New Jersey, Lucas has performed both on stage and as a private entertainer, as a soloist and a chamber player. Lucas’s teaching philosophy is to give his students the knowledge to teach themselves. This realization came from his early years of learning music. He was taught how to play notes on the guitar but was never shown one of the most important factors to improving outside of lessons, how to teach yourself. It may sound obvious but learning how to practice efficiently is extremely important to a players development.
