Andrew has a strong passion teaching and has maintained a steady roster of private students of all ages and ability levels for the last 5 years. He has taught ensembles and music camps at schools in Manhattan and Long Island. He has also been a clinician at Hofstra University.

Born and raised in Austin, TX, Andrew began playing guitar at age 12, and developed an early love for Classic Rock, Blues, and Bluegrass. He attended Idyllwild Arts Academy for high school where he began seriously studying music. He studied under legendary jazz bassist Marshall Hawkins, and his love of jazz was born. He would go on to earn a Bachelors Degree from Berklee College of Music and a Masters Degree from New England Conservatory in Jazz studies. He studied and performed with jazz greats Bob Moses, Jerry Bergonzi, and many others.

After finishing school he moved to New York to join and co-write for a Pop/Folk outfit called Shayna Zaid and The Catch that would have original songs featured on MTV’s Real World, and commercials such as the 2011 Ford edge ad campaign, and others. They would tour the country opening for noteworthy artists such as 311, while making appearances at colleges and major festivals such as SXSW, CMJ, Summerfest before disbanding in 2012.

Andrew is currently a full time member of Art Lillard’s “Heavenly Band,” a traditional big band based in Brooklyn, and The “NYCity Slickers” a progressive eight piece Bluegrass ensemble based in Manhattan that has toured the country and internationally. He also performs regularly with other various groups at noteworthy venues such as Rockwood Music Hall, Cornelia St Café, Something Jazz, and many more.
